Layer Abstract

Major wetland areas important to waterbirds in the region have been identified by the Yukon Wetlands Technical Committee (2005). These include Old Crow Flats, Whitefish Lake, Bluefish Basin, and Cadzow Lake (see Appendix 1, Map 9). The combined estimated area of these wetlands is 758,871 hectares (ha), representing 14% of the region. The majority of wetland habitat is contained within large wetland complexes formed by sediments from Glacial Lake Old Crow that drained during the Pleistocene.
