Server Abstract

This is a WMS interface to the SCAR KGIS project topographic database.

Information in the database has been obtained from sources believed to be reliable but its accurcay and completeness, and the opinions based thereon, are not guaranteed. As every effort has been made to provide accurate information in this database, SCAR would appreciate it if useres could indicate in writing any errors that may be noticed. SCAR is not inviting reliance on these data, and the user should always check original published data. The information in the database is subject to change.

In particular, users should note the following:

1) Data were gathered from sources at widely varying scales, and so the horizontal precision of the data is variable.
3) Not all features are mapped to uniform standards. For example, watercourses are mapped in many ice-free areas, but not on all. The absence of a feature in these data does NOT necessarily indicate the absence of a feature on the ground.
4) In any situation where safety of human life is at risk, the quality and reliability of the source data should be checked.
5) Users should note that the topography of Antarctica, especially the various ice masses, changes with time, and that these data may not represent the current status of features.
